Project Description
Case Study: Traditional Hand Made Period Door
We were asked to make a traditional hand-made door on a Tudor style property next to the river in Knaresborough, Harrogate. We met the lovely couple at the Harrogate Homebuilding and Renovating show in Early November 2019. They had recently bought the cottage, situated on the water front, and was wanting a solid Oak English period door to replace their tired looking 1980’s style door.
We hand made the cross boarded door from a 37 years old air dried English Oak tree that had been cut down in Lancashire. Both the door and frame was made from the same stock giving it a beautiful period look to complement the property and its surroundings.
The door included a glass squint so the owners could see out of the property. And had a hand made wooden panel at the back of the door that can be closed to provide additional security.
The period front door was finished with a weather draft strip and also included modern security locks.
